"Something Is Squeezing My Skull"
(Morrissey/Alain Whyte)

This song must have been written shortly before or during the recording sessions for the "Years Of Refusal" album which happened in August or December 2007 at Conway Studios in Los Angeles with producer Jerry Finn. Further mixing may have been done in the spring of 2008 (the album is actually credited as having been recorded in Los Angeles in 2008; accurate info is needed). The musicians on this recording were Boz Boorer (guitar), Jesse Tobias (guitar), Solomon Walker (bass), Matt Walker (drums) and Roger Manning Jr. (piano, keyboards).

"Later...Live 2 With Jools Holland" a various artists 2-CD retrospective
Despite having been given an official release, this performance is also circulated on bootleg video alongside the three other ones done on the same programme ("That's How People Grow Up", "All You Need Is Me" and "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys"). The audio can be found in digital format on the internet.
Jimmy Kimmel Live 5 February 2009 [tv]
This performance is part of a 5-song set recorded by Morrissey for this programme. This is the only song to have been broadcast in full. It and the first few seconds of "Mama Lay Softly On The Riverbed" which were shown before the closing credits are circulated on bootleg video and the audio can be found in digital format on the internet. The three other songs remain unseen (except by those who attended the taping).

This song has been done in concert a total of 67 times by Morrissey. It was introduced in Morrissey's set in mid-January 2008 near the end of the Greatest Hits tour and done 11 times, a majority of the tour's remaining dates. It was played almost without a break at the start of the 2009 Tour Of Refusal until early June but only three times during the tour's final six weeks. It was done a final 11 times as an encore in the middle of the 2009 Swords tour.

There are no officially released live recordings of the song at this point in time.

Mexican Institute of Sound vs NSM PSM mix {3:55}
This remix which was leaked on the internet in October 2009 was never officially released, but it must have been commissioned by Morrissey's label because it could not have been done without the master track of Morrissey's vocals.
