"Munich Air Disaster 1958"
(Morrissey/Alain Whyte)

These words are transcribed without permission the way they appear in the Deluxe Edition of Morrissey's "You Are The Quarry" album (lyrics found in the "Swords" album are incomplete). There are no variations between the printed lyrics and what Morrissey actually sings in the studio version.

We love them
We mourn for them
Unlucky boys of red

I wish I'd gone down
Gone down with them
To where mother nature makes their bed

We miss them
Everynight we kiss them
Their faces fixed in our heads

I wish I'd gone down
Gone down with them
To where mother nature makes their bed

They can't hurt you 1
Their style will never desert you
Because they're all safely dead

I wish I'd gone down
Gone down with them
To where mother nature makes their bed

1 Near the end of the You Are The Quarry tour Morrissey often sang "why? because they're all safely dead". This can be heard on the live album "Live At Earl's Court" from that era. He actually follows the line with "hush..." on the latter live album.

Notes:

As the song fades out someone can be faintly heard asking "What's so funny?"

At the end of the 2004 You Are The Quarry tour this song was preceded by the first lines of Morrissey's cover of the New York Dolls' "Subway Train".
