Morrissey wore a grey suit over a grey "The Queen Is Dead" t-shirt. He had a hearing aid dangling from his belt. He wasn't backed by anyone and lipsynched to the song. This can be viewed on the 2010 "Everyday Is Like Sunday" cd-single.

Morrissey accompanied by a pianist and a guitarist from the show's band. This was the song's debut, and the first time Morrissey played live on television as a solo artist (as the Top Of The Pop performances were lip-synched). Morrissey had a band-aid over his left eyebrow.

On 11 September the previously broadcast 5 songs, plus 2 more, and the full interview were shown in one special episode. The performance of "I Just Want To See The Boy Happy" was later used as a video when the song was released as a single.
