The song was written during the autumn of 1987 and recorded during the "Viva Hate" sessions which stretched from October to December 1987 at Wool Hall Studios in Bath, with producer Stephen Street. Musicians on the recording were Stephen Street (guitar, bass) and Andrew Paresi (drums). Vini Reilly, who plays the guitar on most of the "Viva Hate" tracks, did not play on this number.
