"How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?"
(Morrissey/Alain Whyte)

The song must have been written during the months preceding the recording of the "You Are The Quarry" album. It is credited as having been recorded in Los Angeles in 2004, but the "You Are The Quarry" sessions were actually split between Sarm Hook End in Berkshire in the autumn of 2003 and Conway Studios in Los Angeles in late 2003 or January 2004, with producer Jerry Finn. Musicians on this recording were Boz Boorer (guitar), Alain Whyte (guitar), Gary Day (bass), Dean Butterworth (drums) and Roger Manning (piano).

This song has never been performed specifically for radio, television or the web.

This song has been performed a total of 109 times by Morrissey. The first 50 airings were on the 2004 You Are The Quarry tour where it was played regularly at the start, then with occasional breaks of a show or two in the second half. Morrissey sang it another 59 times on the 2009 Tour Of Refusal. It was on the setlist every night with the exception of the final three weeks during which it was only done once. This strong presence on the Tour Of Refusal was a bit unexpected considering the fact that the song was a 5-year old album track and that Morrissey had a lot of new material to promote.
