14 February 1984 University Of East Anglia, Norwich Hand In GloveDue to refurbishment, this concert was exceptionally held in the foyer of University House instead of the usual Lower Common Room (LCR). This is very likely the cause of the sound problems which delayed the gig. The set was another short one because of Morrissey's slow recovery from a cold. Despite all this the band was quite well received by the crowd. After set opener "Hand In Glove" Morrissey greeted the audience by saying "Hello Norwich". He then introduced the following planned number by saying "Oh, Norwich, 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now'..." After the latter number he asked someone "What? What do you suggest then?" He introduced "Pretty Girls Make Graves" with the words "Pretty girls make graves incidently...", then "Still Ill" as "Ill Still". The epic "Barbarism Begins At Home" was preceded by the introduction "This song is called 'Barbarism Begins At Home' which it does..." Finally, main set closer "What Difference Does It Make?" was introduced with the semi-sarcastic "So, our enormous hit record..." Morrissey made a slight change in the yet unreleased "Girl Afraid" by singing "In the room downstairs she sat and stared, in the room downstairs she stared". Morrissey's parting words before going into the encore were "Thank you Norwich, you're very convivial people..." Tickets were £3.
