Morrissey, March 1985: "Touring's interesting because it's fascinating to meet people. That sounds silly but unless we actually tour we don't actually meet the people who buy our records. Which is strange. You can have a hit record or whatever and loads of people can buy your record but you don't actually meet them. And I never meet Smiths apostles ever - so it's only by touring that I can actually come face to face with these people.
