12 February 1984 Lyceum, London Hand In GloveThe Smiths finally returned after a week and a half of cancelled dates, but Morrissey was still feeling ill and had a hard time singing. For medical reasons, "Miserable Lie", with its falsetto, was left out of the set. The show didn't last very long. As the tour progressed and Morrissey would get better, the Smiths would extend the setlist again. After set opener "Hand In Glove" Morrissey exclaimed "So nice to see you in such good spirits... will it last? Will it last? I wonder...". "Girl Afraid" was introduced by Morrissey with the short "Something new to chew." After that song he told someone in the audience "What? Speak louder..." Soon after "Still Ill" was introduced with the appropriate "Listen I've been really ill lately and... and I'm still ill so... I'm gonna sing about it." In "This Night Has Opened My Eyes", Morrissey slightly changed one line to "I'm just not happy and I'm not sad". After the yet unreleased "Barbarism Begins At Home", Morissey enquired "Any requests, friends?" Of course the band were not really taking requests, they stuck to the planned setlist. After "Back To The Old House", Morrissey discussed about something (undecipherable) with someone in the audience. In "What Difference Does It Make?", he mistakenly mixed two lines and sang "But now you know the truth, I'm ashamed because I've only got two hands." In "You've Got Everything Now", he sang "A friendship sadly lost, this is not true, this is not false." After that last number Morrissey simply said "bye bye!" in an unusual childish voice and the band left the stage. Tickets were £3.50.
