23 March 1983
The Rock Garden, London
Set list unknown.
This was the first concert outside the Smiths' hometown of Manchester. The advert for the concert billed them as a 5-piece, although James Maker didn't join them on stage as a dancer anymore: "London debut of Mancunian 5-piece whose sound though difficult to pigeon-hole leans towards pop and the dance floor". Opening band was a London band called Two Chances.

There was no stage, the Smiths performed on the dancefloor in the middle of the audience. Geoff Travis from Rough Trade Records saw the Smiths here for the first time. Within a month he would agree to release their first single.

Some info provided by Al Tutt.
