5 November 1997 Liberty Hall, Lawrence, KS
The Boy RacerThis rather uneventful concert went down very well. Security was tight, but there was still a good deal of stage climbing during the encore. The setlist was identical to the one from previous concert, with only two songs from "Maladjusted" and seven from "Vauxhall & I". Morrissey introduced himself and the band as "We're five bastards from England". As the Smiths-era song "Paint A Vulgar Picture" started and the crowd went crazy, someone messed up and the song stopped immediately. Morrissey teased the fans "See, you were wrong...". He then added "As some of you probably know, I used to be in a band called The Clash" before restarting "Paint A Vulgar Picture", this time without any hitch. Later Morrissey asked his fans how much they had paid for their tickets, and when he heard the answers, he said that he wouldn't have paid that much himself.
