11 October 1997 The Joint Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas, NV
MaladjustedThis show was disappointing for many fans but maybe not as much as the previous one in San Diego. There was a good deal of pushing, shoving and surfing in the audience. The pit between the stage and the crowd was wide and filled with security, so nobody made it up to Morrissey. The man himself seemed in reasonably good spirits and talkative, although most of what he said was cryptic. As in San Diego, the set was shortened, but this time only by one song, "Sunny" (which was on the setlist but skipped). "The Teachers Are Afraid Of The Pupils" was not skipped this time, and "Maladjusted" was reinstated, replacing "Ambitious Outsiders". Entering stage, Morrissey shouted "Laaaas Vegas!" before going into "Maladjusted" which was returning to the set after a break of a few dates. After the song Morrissey said to his fans "It's very nice to be here". After "Billy Budd" he teased them by saying "You're very sexy, please come closer". Before "Roy's Keen", Morrissey said "I don't mind that you sweat, please feel free, just let it happen. If its gonna happen, just let it happen, it should happen, it happened. If it doesn't happen, you won't have it." After the song he said something that sounded like "Thank you buddhists" then introduced "Speedway" with the words "This song (pause) is not good". After that song, the crowd broke into a chant of Morrissey's name, but they were interrupted by Morrissey telling them "I forgot to tell you, I've changed hairdo".
