12 August 2006 Laugardalshöll, Reykjavik, Iceland
How Soon Is Now?Morrissey's first ever live appearance in Iceland went down well. The crowd started off a bit subdued, but it gradually warmed up. Morrissey seemed to be enjoying himself throughout, and even more as the audience warmed up. He shook many hands from fans in the front rows. Setlist-wise the surprise was the live introduction of two songs that had not been played on this tour yet: "We'll Let You Know" and "Now My Heart Is Full". This must have pleased fans who complained that Morrissey thus far in 2006 had been neglecting his early back catalogue. Setlist fixture "Life Is A Pigsty" and part-timer "Still Ill" were also reintroduced into the set. To make way for these, "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before", "To Me You Are A Work Of Art", "Ganglord" and the Roxy Music cover "Street Life" were dropped. The latter song would actually never be played again. Morrissey learned a few words in Icelandic which he used in front of the audience to get some cheers. He remarked that he had been in Iceland for 24 hours and hadn't yet seen any ice. He mentioned that his latest album "Ringleader Of The Tormentors" barely scraped the bottom of the Icelandic charts, but just barely, which also got a laugh out of his audience. When someone shouted for "Jack The Ripper" he said he didn't do that one anymore. Morrissey also had a few words with his favourite fan Julia. He asked her how she was. He also namechecked another regular attendee before "Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice" when he commented that it was an obscure b-side that only Julia and Winnie would know. He also told an American 'regular' that he was glad he didn't scare him off at the Palladium.
