"Cosmic Dancer"
(Marc Bolan)

This T.Rex cover was only done in concert, it was never professionally recorded in a studio.

This song was never released in studio form. The only officially released versions are the live ones mentioned below.

This song has never been performed specifically for radio, television or the web.

The song has been performed live 19 times in full by Morrissey, all on the 1991 Kill Uncle tour. It was played night after night at the beginning of the tour, but was dropped shortly after the tour reached the USA, only to return to the set sporadically. The song was done once as a duet with David Bowie, on 2 June 1991 at Los Angeles' Great Western Forum.

On a dozen dates during the final five weeks of that tour, Morrissey would sing the song's first line but the band would pretend to cut him off by switching into "Disappointed". This also happened once with "That's Entertainment" instead of "Disappointed".

Quotes

In an interview given to journalist Len Brown (date/source needed), Morrissey said of the T.Rex original "I thought it was a very sad song. Around the time of Electric Warrior I remember feeling very sad and empty. And, of course, 'I danced myself into the tomb' has some weight now because, in effect, that's what he did. I recently heard a very old record from the Fifties which used the same line, which also interested me."
