"Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice"
(Morrissey/Alain Whyte)

These words are transcribed without permission the way they appear in the Deluxe Edition of Morrissey's "You Are The Quarry" album. Additions to the printed lyrics are in darker text while omissions are striken out.

Long ago
When he was
Young and restless
Suddenly
Daddy saw
The beckoning finger of fate

Don't make fun of Daddy's voice
Because he can't help it
When he was a teenage boy
Something got stuck in his throat

When you are
Young
You crave affection
And it can
Come
From the strangest direction 1

Don't make fun of Daddy's voice
Because he can't help it
When he was a teenage boy
Something got stuck in his throat
Don't make fun of Daddy's voice
Because he can't help it
When he was a teenage boy
Something got stuck in his throat 2

No te divertes con pappy
No te divertes con pappy
No te divertes con pappy
No te divertes con pappy
No te divertes con pappy
No te divertes con pappy
No te divertes con pappy
No te divertes con pappy

1 On select festival dates in the summer of 2006 and again in December of that same year Morrissey sometimes followed this line with a roar of "Hey kid! Hey you!", "Come on kid, you!" or something similar, or even just a grunt.

2 Now and then in live performances of this song from 2006-2007, Morrissey would change this line to "somebody got stuck in his throat".

Quotes

Morrissey, after performing this song on 15 August 2006: "That song was called 'Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice' and some people think at the end of the song I attempt to sing Spanish but this is not true... I attempt to sing my own language which very few people know about."
