20 June 2009 Oslo (Norway), Sentrum Scene
This Charming ManNote: setlist order and content above is approximate. This was a great concert that almost went bad. Morrissey and the band were at their best. The singer looked like he was enjoying himself... until someone threw a glass of beer or some other liquid on him. For a while it looked like this was going to bring an early end to the concert, but Morrissey dealt with the situation (read further) and didn't look too affected by it afterwards. He did not talk much, neither before or after the incident. The crowd was very receptive and supportive. Minor changes were made to the setlist order, and in the process "Something Is Squeezing My Skull" was replaced with "I Keep Mine Hidden". The memorable moment of the evening took place halfway into "Girlfriend In A Coma" when someone threw a plastic glass of beer or water at Morrissey. The first reaction was a collective gasp from the crowd. Morrissey stopped singing, wiped some of the liquid off him, and said "Oh... no, no, no, no, no... Should we go? Would you like us to leave? (motions for band to stop the song)... Who threw that? Max, turn on the lights... Who threw that? (crowd boos)... Should we not come to Oslo? (crowd cheers) It's never happened before, you come to Norway, (mimics someone throwing something, with sound effects)... Do you know who threw it? Would you - would you smash their face in? (crowd cheers) Can we see it happen? (Morrissey stands waiting, the crowd gets loud, claps hands, chants Morrissey's name) Not very nice! (Morrissey gathers band around him and discusses with them) If you find out who threw it, would you get rid of him?..." At this point he decided to just leave the stage. The band put down their instruments and followed him. The lights were turned on, and eventually some guy in the crowd was pushed forward towards the stage. The guards tried to lift him up, but he resisted, and was thrown out. After a couple of minutes Morrissey and the band came back on and resumed the show. Besides the above, the other reported banter from Morrissey was "I was walking through Oslo today, and I couldn't find a single morrissey cd... a good day!" Before "Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself" he said something like "This is for those who can't, won't and never will... and it's the song of Norway..." He changed a line in "How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel" to "the future is passing you by, my friends, the future is passing you by".
