Additional information:
This track from the most recent album "The Queen Is Dead" was selected by Virgin in France to be released as a single instead of the non-album "Shoplifters Of The World Unite". Although it was at some point considered as a potential single in England, the song was never released anywhere else than France at the time.

In 1992 Warner picked "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" to be released as a single from the "Best...II" album. In 2005, Morrissey released a live version of "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" as a single from the "Live At Earls Court" live album.

 

Artwork information:
This single has unique artwork of a boy eating an ice lollie. Posters of this image were sold on the "The Queen Is Dead" tour of 1986.

Promotion:
UK: The title track was included on a various artists Warner Music promo cd (PROMOCD37). The video for it was included on a WEA/East West instore various artists video promo compilation dated October 1992.

France: Copies of the stock 7" were stamped with the words ECHANTILLON GRATUIT INTERDIT A LA VENTE in a corner of the sleeve.

USA: A one-track promotional 12" of "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" was distributed to promote the "The Queen Is Dead" album. This item is covered on the "The Queen Is Dead" page.
