This album was even more critically acclaimed than its predecessor, the comeback album "You Are The Quarry". It was produced by legendary producer Tony Visconti (Bowie, T-Rex) and includes a collaboration with soundtrack composer Ennio Morricone. Like the Smiths' "Strangeways Here We Come", it has death as its predominant theme. The songs vary from radio-friendly but intelligent pop to more leftfield material, extending Morrissey's usual sonic range.
